Aurora Di Girolamo graduated with honors in Oriental Languages and Civilizations at Sapienza University of Rome in 2012 with a thesis focused on the approaches to translating traditional Chinese medicine literature into Italian.
During the university years, she improved her level of Mandarin Chinese and English by working as an Italian language tutor for foreign students residing in Rome.
In 2010 and 2012 Aurora attended two Mandarin courses at Beijing Foreign Language University and later, in 2013, thanks to MAE China scholarship promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese government, she spent one year in Nanjing where she perfected her language skills and deepened her knowledge of the methods and techniques in teaching Chinese language at Normal University.
After her studies she started working as an English teacher in a Chinese private school. Later she moved back to Italy and made numerous business trips in Europe and Asia as a commercial translator and as a commercial translator and import-export manager.
In 2018 she moved to Vancouver, Canada where she worked as an Italian teacher and got in touch with the Italian and Chinese communities, collaborating with them and participating in projects of language mediation and promotion of cultural activities.
At present, she lives in Italy, where she is working on a translation project in the field of Traditional Chinese medicine and is carrying out her activities as a freelance translator.
